Here are some happenings from the last 2 months. My ankle is still on the mend. So my skateboarding fun time was limited. I clocked some decent miles on my bicycle, but couldn't go too hard. I ended up biking to the Da Vinci boxes a lot to just hang and watch skateboarding. I'm in with physical therapy finally. So I'm seeing some progress on healing. I've even skated for almost a full 40 minutes over several days. Just pushing and little stuff. But it's a good start. Late summer brought visitors to town, my first visit to the San Juans for Josh and Augusta's wedding, bands, watching more skating, and the passing of a legendary friend.
Sale on Pizza boards means the crew can swap boards.Zack and Garth.Floofy friend at the car show.Dustin moved away, but played one more ripping show with Nug.Evan and Matt have been friends for a very long time. Can you tell? For as much as I lurked at Da Vinci, I didn't take very many skate photos. Got this one though of Preston ripping on his creation.
Fun time on the ferry with Niles and Erik.
Stars on digital and on film. We got a great show from the Perseid meteor shower. I thought they would show more on my 40 minute exposure. Up close I could see the tiniest streaks. Oh well.
The lime kiln. There is one great skate spot in Friday Harbor. jack did a 50-50 to wallride.Augusta and Josh made it really, really official.Went biking with Erik while he was in town.I went on a group ride for the Made bike show and saw this hot dog.Kevin played us some tunes. And on a different night the Curb Dogs played all the best skate video songs at skate camp while people skated.Hadn't been to this spot in a few years. Still a favorite. Andrew agrees.
Good light for the Kellogg At Noon crew.
I'm shocked and sad about Mic-e passing away. He was intimidating and a sweetheart when I worked at Deluxe. It was rad to reconnect with him when he moved to Portland. He built some great bars that are always the go-to spots for skate related events. If you were down with Mickey, he had your back no matter what. A lot of us are going to miss him. After the first contest at Silas's park in 2018, Cat's Paw hosted way too many skaters for an after party. Too many in the sense that the bar is small and the party spilled onto the sidewalk and street. Cardiel was DJing at the front window and banged on it to get someone's attention. But it just smashed out. Mic handled it in stride. I don't think he even punched Cardiel. Haha. Happened to get this shot in the aftermath.
I'm heading out of town in a few days for a skate adventure. I'll hopefully have some good photos to share from that. I also have some color film loaded up to see what the Fall colors will bring.
